When I’m recording I like to primarily use the organic reverbs and echoes that the room creates, with my next preference being tape-echo. Digital delays and reverbs get used as a last resort in the studio. When performing live, space on the pedal board and transportability are always a concern….the El Capistan is the best solution. It sounds very close to warm tape echo and the Tape Age and Wow & Flutter dials, along with the Tape Head switch, enable you to achieve some pretty authentic sounding tape-echo sounds onstage. I use it with the EP Pre-Amp effect at the same time to help glue it all together.
