Portuguese Music Festival – Stephen Dale Petit

Portuguese Music Festival

We’re very pleased to announce that Stephen and his band – Sophie Lord on Bass and Jack Greenwood on drums – will headline at Vila do Conde Blues Festival on Saturday 22nd February 2020.

Press Release from the festival organisers:

Villa Sessions: Three Days of Blues in Vila do Conde
Vila do Conde Blues Festival returns on February 21, 22 and 23

From February 21 to 23, Villa Sessions – Vila do Conde Blues Festival is back and brings, for the first time in Portugal, Stephen Dale Petit, Chris Wragg and Greg Copeland, Mandolin Blues and Jay Doe and The Blues Preachers.
L-Blues and The Fridays are national bands that make up the poster of the fourth edition.

Chris Wragg and Greg Copeland (UK / US) are the highlight of the first day of the festival, on Friday 21st at 10:30 pm. A duo, united by a passion for Chicago’s Blues, released their first album in 2019, “Deep in the Blood,” which includes as special guests Greg Guy (Buddy Guy’s son) on guitar, Shirley King (daughter of BB King) in the voice, Marcos Coll (harmonica) and Joel White (Hammond organ). Before, at 9:30 pm, Portuguese L-BLUES open the festival with the sounds of Folk, Country, Blues and Rock.

On Saturday 22nd, the headliner is the Blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Stephen Dale Petit, who takes the stage at 10:30 pm. American, based in England, has been described by Classic Rock Magazine as having the fire of Freddie King, the instinct of Jimmy Page and the soul of Eric Clapton. At 9:30 pm Jay Doe & The Blues Preachers bring from Spain the Classic Blues. On stage, they will perform blues music with African American roots, from classics to original compositions.

Portuguese band The Fridays play at 4:30 pm with the promise of an organic music experience that revisits the hits of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. From Rock ‘n’ Roll to Country, from Blues to Folk, from Rockabilly to Psychedelic, a machine trip of time that has as its destination a distant era where music resided at the fingertips.

The third and last day of the festival, on Sunday, the 23rd, brings to Vila do Conde Lino Muoio and his Mandolin Blues to a concert, at 4 pm, with free admission. The guitarist and composer have been part of the Italian blues music scene for over 20 years. Its sound is a mix between traditional American music and Italian style. Currently, Lino Muoio bets on the interaction between the mandolin and the piano with the Swing and Blues styles of the 1920s and 1930s.

Daily tickets, for sale at the Vila do Conde Municipal Auditorium and the Online Ticket Network, cost 12.50 euros. The general ticket, which gives access to all concerts, can be purchased for 20 euros. The third day of the festival has free admission.

Organized by the Dream Sessions Association, with the support of Vila do Conde City Hall and other partners essential for the festival, the Villa Sessions – Vila do Conde Blues Festival has, since 2017, placed Vila do Conde on the national and international Blues circuit. . In previous editions, bands such as Corey Harris Acoustic Trio, Trevor Sewell, Kaz Hawkins ft Sam York, among others, have gone through the festival.
